BOLD is seeking a Senior UX Writer with exceptional skill for crafting simple, straightforward, human copy, making the most complex concepts easy to understand for an international audience. This highly customer-focused role will require a keen interest in Localization and Internationalization. They can translate business needs into great customer-focused copy providing the most translatable content for our world-class linguists.
This position collaborates with designers, product managers, researchers, program managers, software developers, localization project managers, contracted linguists, and additional partner teams. Our ideal candidate is comfortable with cross-departmental collaboration. They are an expert in language quality and an advocate for tone and voice across international portals. A natural curiosity for language, culture, and regional nuances paired with the desire to craft impeccable copy will thrive in this position.
ABOUT THIS TEAM
This position is part of BOLD's UX & Design department and will work directly with the International Product team. This team works collaboratively to identify opportunities where modifications would better serve our customers outside of the United States. Members of this team reside in the USA, Puerto Rico, Poland, and India.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build relationships with partners across product, marketing, localization, UX design, and research to define copy requirements and strategies to achieve business goals.
- Create and form base copy (En-US and En-GB) for multi-disciplinary international projects that will later be translated for localization.
- Collaborate on projects ensuring copy and design meet business objectives and user needs. Willingness to develop, iterate, and improve where necessary.
- Develop precise, consistent nomenclature for tools and applications.
- Ensure digital copy complies with brand standards, style guide, legal parameters, and compliance across multiple portals at varying touchpoints.
- Contribute to the review and approval process with a team of translators working within our Localization team.
- Evaluate the usability of new and existing products, conduct/assist in user research when needed, and provide constructive feedback.
- Lead writing projects, set milestones, and navigate multiple projects at once.
- Experience with multilingual, multicultural teams across various time zones is not required but is a huge plus.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Communications, or equivalent professional experience in a related field
- 5+ years experience in technical or marketing writing, product documentation, or online publishing
- At least 2+ years of in-product writing experience (UI, notifications, errors, tooltips, etc.)
- An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating user-centered copy and content solutions
- Comfortable assessing or providing suggestions related to workflow and process improvement as it promotes greater efficiency and work quality
- Experience working directly with designers, product managers, researchers, linguists, and other subject matter experts
WHAT'S GOOD TO HAVE
- Experience developing in-product writing (UI, notifications, errors, tooltips, etc.)
- Hands-on experience in a design team focused on consumer products (Ideally B2C)
- Experience working in a collaborative team, publicly white-boarding, and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and focus on quality
- Experience participating in user research, tests, and insight generation
- Experience in the job search industry is a plus but not required
- Fluency in a non-English language
